The painting class at this church was created years ago so that those who loved to paint in acrylics and/or watercolor could meet and work with like-minded people. Water-based oils are being used by one or two now so that’s a new angle to explore. We advise against using regular oil paints because there are people sensitive to the paints, solvents and odors.
The class is open to anyone who is interested in honing their painting skills, learning to handle a medium new to them, and working alongside others who love to create this kind of art. The group facilitator is available to teach basic skills, analyze current work, and discuss art. K. Rosende welcomes all those who are serious about exploring paint media.
The instructor holds degrees in fine arts and art education and is a retired public school art teacher. She is also a member of Life Tree Church. While the church generously offers the use of its space, the group takes responsibility to clean up after use. Covid 19 guidelines are followed to make sure the area is disinfected after use. Painters are asked to provide their own materials and paints. The instructor will gladly offer some watercolor materials and paint for a first lesson so a person can see how to begin to use it. There will be suggestions for specific tools, paint and paper and where to buy it all in our area.
The painters have a great time creating, trading ideas, asking questions and laughing a lot! If you are interested, please contact the church at lifetreechurch.org/contact-us. One does not have to be a member of the church to join this creative group!
